Sam McVay

Director of Mobilization

As director of mobilization, Sam is responsible for the E-TEAM mission program, sending more than 100 high school students on mission trips around the world. He also directs the CMP/OA programs, providing opportunities for college students to participate in two- to ten-week cross-cultural mission experiences.

Sam travels across the denomination representing IM in churches, association meetings, mission conferences, etc. He shares what God is doing around the world and invites people to partner with IM to fulfill the Great Commission.

He also works closely with IM missionaries as he assists them in providing service opportunities to those God is calling into missions. Sam’s heart for young people and his experience, in both receiving mission teams as a missionary and leading E-TEAMs and CMP teams, energizes him for his role as director of mobilization.

Sam and his wife June served as missionaries to Spain from 1997 to 2013. Before joining IM, Sam served as youth pastor and pastor’s assistant at Cofer’s Chapel FWB Church for more than 21 years. Sam and June also helped direct the Truth and Peace Leadership Conference from its inception until going to Spain.

Sam graduated from Welch College with a B.A. in biblical studies and pastoral administration (1978) and holds a Diploma of Estudios Hispanicos from the University of Madrid.

Sam and June (Picirilli) married in August 1975 and have two daughters, one son-in-law, and three grandchildren.
