Mrs. Leah Mae Postlewaite, mother of Ruth McDonald, passed from death into life on August 30, 2017. The 87-year-old was in hospice care at the home of one of her sons and transitioned peacefully during a nap.
Mrs. Postlewaite and her husband John (deceased) served faithfully as church planters in Washington and Oregon, planting seven churches in those two states. They pastored churches in Missouri, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Illinois.
They faithfully communicated their love for the Lord and commitment to the Great Commission to their children. Ruth, their youngest child, serves as a missionary in Japan. Grandchildren Katie McDonald Speer (Japan) and Jonathan Postlewaite (Bulgaria) serve with the Mission also.
The funeral will be held at Gateway Free Will Baptist Church (5473 Virginia Beach Blvd, 23462; 757-499-9686) in Virginia Beach, Virginia, Tuesday, September 5, at 7 p.m. The family welcomes visitors, beginning at 6 p.m.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, September 9, at Hillcrest Cemetery (North Main Street) in Mountain Grove, Missouri, at 11 a.m. The family will accept visitors prior to the interment, beginning at 10 a.m. at Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home (315 North Main Street, Mountain Grove, Missouri 65711; 417-926-4111).
